Buddy-project »Sprungbrett«
It is always the same difficulties and questions that preoccupy HIV-positive people after diagnosis: Many are afraid of illness and death and of exclusion. They wonder how they can tell their family and friends about the infection and whether they should be open about their HIV infection at work.
In the Buddy "Sprungbrett" project, people who have been HIV-positive for many years are helping people who have only recently learned of their infection to take their first steps.
The "Buddy" has already overcome many hurdles. As a living example he shows that and how it works: to live positively. The coordination, training of the buddies in weekend courses and quality assurance has been taken over by the Deutsche Aidshilfe; the project is supported by the Bundeszentrale für gesundheitliche Aufklärung (BZgA). The Buddys are bound to secrecy.
