Youthwork
Sexual education
Aidshilfe im Kreis Unna conducts a large number of sexual education prevention events at secondary schools in the district and in youth centres. Approximately 2.000 young people are reached every year. The prevention events at the schools usually take the form of a project day. Through cooperation with various pregnancy counselling centres in the district of Unna, gender-specific work for girls and boys can be carried out.
The prevention projects include sexual education topics such as
- HIV, AIDS, sexually transmitted diseases,
- Pregnancy contraception,
- Homosexuality,
- Partnership and
- "Men's Health."
Methodically, different means are used:
- Games,
- Discussion rounds,
- Media,
- Group work.
The choice of topics and methods depends on the age of the young people and their previous knowledge. In principle, the sexual education programmes are aimed at pupils from 7th grade onwards. In daily practice, most project days take place in eighth, ninth and tenth grades. The offers are free of charge for schools and youth centres. Due to the high demand, an early appointment is necessary.
In principle, shorter prevention events are also possible, for example for a double lesson at school. However, these are then only devoted to one topic and are generally not carried out on a gender-specific basis.
Our offer also includes a lecture event for parents, which is summarised under the title "Das Einmaleins der Jugendsexualität". Mothers and fathers receive basic knowledge about sexual education as well as facts and figures about youth sexuality. The lecture lasts about 90 minutes and can also take place in the evening hours.
